Gippsland 24x7

Starting east of the suburbs of Melbourne and stretching to the New South Wales border is the large area of Gippsland. Named after New South Wales Governor George Gipps, Gippsland is home to nearly 0.3 million people living in seven different zones or shires. Locally, Gippsland is famous for mining, power generation and farming activities. However, the region is rich in tourism related activities also. Gippsland is fairly well connected with Australia’s number one highway running through its center.

Gippsland is a diverse tourist spot. It has a range of attractions that lure you no end. You are free to choose from snowfields to farmlands to beaches to rainforests to water features to some great landscapes.

Wilsons Promontory has to be your obvious stop in Gippsland. The place is famous for its bush and coastal scenery. The Wilsons Promontory National Park (‘the Prom’) has some excellent tracks and walking trails to explore.

If you are looking for some fun, head straight to any of the Gippsland Lakes. They are ideal for swimming, fishing, boating and sailing. Sitting alongside the famous Ninety Mile Beach, Gippsland Lakes are fed by the waters form five major rivers in the area.
