Victoria is home to some great architectural marvels. Great Ocean Road is one of the spectacular landmarks that can’t be missed while in Victoria. Officially starting 100 kilometers south west of Melbourne at Torquay and finishing at Allansford, where it joins the Princes Highway near Warrnambool, the Great Ocean Road is over 300 kilometers long. It’s known as the ‘Surfcoast Highway’ between Geelong and Torquay.
The drive along the road is full of scenic beauty. In particular, the breathtaking views of Bass Strait and Southern Ocean are sure to leave you speechless. The natural rock formations along Port Campbell are sure head turners. The famous ones include London Arch (previously called ‘London Bridge’), the Grotto, Loch Ard Gorge, the Crags, Elephant Rock, the Blowhole, and above all, the famous Twelve Apostles.
The ocean provides some great attractions for the visitors and passersby. The place has some magnificent beaches and a few of them are ideal for swimming, fishing and surfing. The calm estuaries and coves are sights to watch. The sightings of fairy penguins are fairly common in the ocean along the Road.
The forest and mountainous area of Otway Ranges is a sight to behold. It stretches from Anglesea to Cape Otway and has some exquisite hills, waterfalls, walking tracks and picnic spots.
